A competition winning scheme by Riches Hawley Mikhail for a mixed-use development in Somerset proposing 75 flats, commercial/retail units, a restaurant, Tourist Office and a Marina on the edge of a Somerset seaside town. A cluster of steeply pitched roofed buildings house high-density accommodation, whilst carefully considered gaps between individual buildings help to maintain views of the old look-out point from the town. The lower two stories house the public facilities whilst above, all flats are dual aspect. South and west facing balconies are inset to allow for closure as a winter garden in bad weather, improving thermal performance and maximising the flexibility of the internal space.
